My Why!
People often ask me, 'It would be so hard to give up the puppies; how do you do it?' Is it hard, yes! I watch each puppy come into this world (most of the time, my husband does delivery duty occasionally). From the time the parents are bred to the time the puppies leave for new homes, I am involved. I get to see them enter this world and develop. I love all the stages; the first week of just sleeping, eating and growing, the eyes opening and drunken toddles, ears opening and then discovering sounds, playing beginning with mouthing each other to jumping, growling, and trying to chase, and then the adventure really begins with exploring, running, learning new things daily, and developing into the puppies that are ready for new homes. I always reflect on how raising puppies is very similar to raising my children. I loved watching my children grow and learn. The early years were so fascinating to me as they developed into the women and men they are now. I have always loved dogs (and animals in general). To me, they are the true epitome of unconditional love. Dogs are unwaveringly loyal and have boundless affection. They are delighted to see you and just want to spend time with you. Dogs have a way of brightening even the roughest day.
Through this adventure of raising quality puppies, I have met some incredible families and individuals on this journey. One of the most special times for me is when I receive Christmas cards and birthday party updates (yes, birthday celebrations for their dogs). Knowing that I have personally been involved in bringing joy to families, through a puppy to love and be loved, that is cared for and cherished, is priceless to me. That is my why!
